Freddie Mercury A quick biography

Freddie Mercury was a singer and songwriter who was born on September 5, 1946 in Zanzibar. The most famous band he was in was Queen. Queen consisted of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. Freddie Mercury spent the bulk of his childhood in India, where he attended St. Peter’s boarding school. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 7, but nobody could have predicted that he would have become a very famous musician.

Freddie Mercury’s music journey truly started in 1964 when he and his family moved to Middlesex because he was studying graphic design courses at Ealing College of Art. During his time studying, Freddie joined a blues band called ¨Wreckage¨. While singing for Wreckage, a fellow student introduced Freddie to Roger Taylor and Brian May, founders of the band. Smile changed Freddie and he became the lead vocalist. He was the final member of the band until March first in 1971 where John Deacon would join as the bassist.

For the rest of rock history, Smile became recognized as Queen. The great thing that put Queen on the map was Bohemian Rhapsody. A single that was so great that it was the first for 9 weeks straight. This really showed the world about Freddie Mercury’s unique and clear voice.

Fast forward a few years, Freddie Mercury and Queen continued to produce more successful songs like A crazy little thing called love, Somebody to love, We will rock you, Another on bites the dust, Radio gaga, Don’t stop me now and many more. This continued for many years.
