Shimizu Kiyou

Kiyou Shimizu is a queen of karate and a Japanese karateka competing in the women’s kata event. She was born on December 7, 1993 in Osaka, Japan and she is now 28 years old. Shimizu won the silver medal in the women’s kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. At the moment, her rival is Sandra Sanchez, a Spanish karateka. In the 2020 Summer Olympics, Sanchez won the gold medal in the women’s kata event. In most of the games, it was either Kiyou or Sandra who won the gold medal. 

 

In 2014, Kiyou represented Japan at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea and she won the gold medal in the women’s kata event. A month later, she became the world champion in this event at the 2014 World Karate Championships held in Bremen, Germany. In 2018, she won a medal in three major tournaments. The first tournament was The Asian Karate Championships held in Amman, Jordan, where she won the gold medal. The second tournament was the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia where she also won the gold medal. Her success continued at the 2018 World Karate Championships held in Madrid, Spain where she won the silver medal in the women’s individual kata event. 

 

Now, she is very much expected to win the next Olympics because of her previous success.
