Yuzuru Hanyu

Yuzuru Hanyu is a twenty-seven-year-old athlete, and he was born on December 7, 1994, in Sendai, Japan. He is a Japanese figure skater who is also the first Japanese man to win an Olympic gold medal in figure skating. The reason why Yuzuru Hanyu is so popular is that he is a two-time Olympic champion in men’s figure skating and his popularity went up due to his friendliness toward Chinese athletes. 


Yuzuru Hanyu has been skating ever since he was four years old but he got serious about skating and pursued to get better after watching television of the heavily hyped duel between Russian skaters Aleksey Yagudin and Yevgeny Plushchenko at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

Once, Yuzuru Hanyu’s coach Brian Orser said that Yuzuru Hanyu would like to win the gold medal in Beijing. he also wants to win by becoming the first skater in the history of the sport to land the quadruple Axel in competition. And lastly, his favorite character is Winnie the Pooh.
