Christmas is just around the corner. It’s almost winter break, and usually at this time, we are able to travel and visit family. From 2019, the following are the top 5 most visited states during the Christmas season. However, because of Covid, we are not able to travel and here are the travel restrictions for the states.

The first one is Florida, with no travel restrictions.

Second is Ohio. Quarantine for 14 days is cautioned for travelers who are entering Ohio from a state with a 15 percent or greater rate of testing positive. Other than  those that are seeing medical care, non-residents who have or likely have COVID-19 and have not recovered are forbidden to enter the state.

The third is Connecticut. Travelers from particular states need to quarantine for 14 days unless they submit evidence of a negative test no more than 72 hours before arrival. Aside from New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, affected states meaning those with a positivity rate greater than 10 per 100,000 residents or an average

test positivity rate of more than 10 percent for seven days. The limitation also refers to anyone who has traveled to a country for which a Level 3 travel health mention has been issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It applies to travelers who in the past 14 days, have been in any relevant state or country for 24 hours. Travelers who only spend 24 hours or less in Connecticut will not be affected.

Next is New York. All travelers must be quarantined for 14 days, excluding employees and those who come from surrounding states. Affected trave

lers may choose to shorten the length of their quarantine by submitting a negative coronavirus test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival, a three-day quarantine, and get another check on day-four. If the result is negative, the traveler may leave the quarantine.

Lastly is Pennsylvania. As of November 20, a nega

tive COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival must be provided by anyone entering Pennsylvania from another state. Those who do not take a test must be quarantined for 14 days.   Returning residents of Pennsylvania

from other states are affected by these requirements unless they are traveling for medical treatment or work.

Although we can’t travel, there are still things we can do. Some things you can do during quarantine for the holidays is hiking. Many national parks and paths are still open during Covid. In every state there is at

least one hiking location you can visit. Before visiting a location you should check an online website to make sure you are following their Covid protocols.

Another activity still open in many states is parks and playgrounds. Although playgrounds are not suggested if you follow the rules and minimize what structure you touch, it is an activity to do. Many parks are open and some parks have even opened their soccer fields where you can still social distance and get your work in.

An additional outdoor activity you can do during quarantine is kayaking or paddle boarding. Many are able to kayak or paddleboard in their backyard while others can go to their nearest lake. Kayaking and paddle boarding are both fun activities that you can do while being social distanced.

In conclusion, although there are restrictions on traveling, there are still many different activities you can do without traveling to different states. Make sure to stay safe by wearing your masks and social distancing when going out.
