5 Facts About Obi-Wan Kenobi

Edward Choi, Journalist

Obi-Wan Kenobi has grown to be one of my favorite characters. He is a Jedi Master and has a seat on the Jedi Council. He appears in the Movies, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Clone Wars Movie, and the TV Shows he has appeared in are Star Wars Rebels, and both of Star Wars The Clone Wars Shows. (2003 and 2008) Here are some facts that you may not have known about Obi-Wan Kenobi.

  • General Grievous said “Hello There” first.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has a fan favorite line where he says “Hello there” after he jumps from a ledge to General Grievous and his droid army in Revenge of the Sith. The truth is that Grievous said it first. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 show) is a TV show and it takes place before and towards the beginning of Revenge of the Sith and Grievous said “Hello There,” therefore Grievous the line was originally his.

  • Obi-Wan can understand a lot of different languages

Obi-Wan could understand 5 or more languages, some of them being Twi’leki and Shyriiwook, or the language the wookies spoke which helped him talk to Chewbacca in the original trilogy. (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi)

  • Obi-Wan was very mischievous when he was a padawan

Obi-Wan is very stern and strict as a Jedi knight/master, but as a padawan he was a little mischievous. He was a bit sarcastic and humorous.

  • There are many objects that have his name.

A new star destroyer “The Obi-Wan” was a type of star destroyer that would be made in honor of him by the New Republic. Another object is the Kenobi Medallion. It was given out, after the first death star blew up and was given to members of the Rebel Alliance who showed bravery.

  • Obi-Wan was a great negotiator

Obi-Wan was a great swordsman but could also solve conflicts with words. He only wanted to use his lightsaber if there was no other choice. And since he was good at solving a quarrel without his saber but with words, therefore he got the title “The Negotiator.”

These are some facts about Obi-Wan Kenobi that you may not have known. I hope you learned something new. Some of these facts are ones I didn’t even know myself. Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of my favorite Jedi because of his balance of humor and strictness. He plays a big part in the Star Wars movies and TV shows. He has a great character and became a very well known and respected Jedi Master. He was a very powerful Jedi, but sadly he was unfortunately killed by his former padawan, Darth Vader, also known as Anakin Skywalker.
