Introduction: 

Have you ever heard of CD Projekt Red? This company started from scratch and slowly began to evolve into one of the best video game companies that has been created.

 

History of CD Projekt Red:

It was founded in May 4, 1994 by Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński, who were two Polish school friends who started by selling games on floppy discs at the Warsaw computer market. They released a game in 1999 that was called Baldur Gate. The game became a commercial success in the first few months. Baldur Gate sold 50 thousand game boxes in Poland. 

 

In 2003, CD Projekt Red started working on the game The Witcher, which was based on the popular book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Then the game finally released in 2007. The game was only released on PC’s and was really limited in the west for the console version. The results of the game The Witcher  was a satisfactory. The creation of the first Witcher  was the first step to bringing true profits to the company. In 2009, CD Projekt Red hit financial issues, which were mostly related to the global economic crisis and excessive investments. In 2011 The Witcher: Assassins of Kings was released for computers only. The game won best game of its genre and even game of the year and in the first week it sold 400,000 copies.

 

After the second part of The Witcher, The company announced Cyberpunk 2077. When the game was in progress, the company released Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in May 2015. In the first six weeks of its premiere, the game sold six million copies. By the end of the first year, the game received 800 awards, including 250 awards for best game of the year. In 2019 Xbox E3, an award ceremony for games, Keanu Reeves, an actor and a musician, announced that Cyberpunk 2077  will be released by April 16, 2020. When the famous actor Keanu Reeves showed up to the 2019 Xbox E3 press conference, Cyberpunk 2077  received a lot of hype, which means that CD Projekt Red will most likely make a lot of money. But Cyberpunk 2077  is still unknown, since the game is still a work in progress. 

 

Conclusion:

Overall, CD Projekt Red has evolved and used their money wisely to make a game that’s enjoyable for the players, so they can have a great experience playing the game. CD Projekt Red is one of the best and well known companies because of their creation of The Witcher  series.
